A year ago Addi Hernandez was an administrative assistant at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College. But as a graduate of the college and a Latina, Hernandez found Latino students on the Bowling Green campus would often approach her for advice on what forms they needed to fill out or what they needed to do to be better college students.
Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC), in partnership with the Southcentral Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (SKY FAME) chapter, has been awarded $179,000.00 in state funding for equipment in SKY FAME’s Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program. The funding is a result of the first round of the Kentucky Work Ready Skills Initiative.
It’s no secret that those who earn a post-secondary credential are in demand, earn more and suffer less unemployment. But, many people may not realize a four-year degree is not necessary to build the skills needed for a high paying job. SKYCTC offers programs that can be completed in four months or less.
Ground was broken for the new building in June this year with plans for the grand opening in late 2017.  Students will begin the spring 2018 school semester in the new instructional complex.

"SKYCTC's small class sizes and family atmosphere make it easy to succeed. Students are as prepared for their degrees as if they attended a four year university. SKYCTC is a great environment for students to thrive in, and when you leave you are prepared to succeed."
